ABOUT KALEEL KHAN

I was born at Tameside General Hospital and spent my childhood in St. Peters ward and have lived here ever since.  I went to Holy Trinity C of E Primary School and later attended Hartshead High School. After finishing high school, I continued my education at Ashton Sixth Form, Tameside College, and Hyde Clarendon Sixth Form College.

I went to Salford and Manchester Universities, where I studied Social Work and specialised in mental health. I have two master's degrees—one in Mental Health and another in Law.

Professionally, I have dedicated my career to roles aligning with my core values and beliefs, centred around equality for all, human rights, and the pursuit of a fair society. My experience includes working with social services, mental health services and charities, where I have actively contributed to supporting the most vulnerable individuals in our society. This hands-on involvement has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by some of the residents of St. Peters.

Presently, I hold a leadership position in the NHS, focusing on ensuring the safety and well-being of both children and adults in Greater Manchester. I also take care of a close family member who has early-onset dementia. This experience helps me to practically understand the challenges faced by people with dementia and those who take care of them.
